FFXIV News - Dev Blog: Hi from the gamescom 2015 showfloor!

We'd like to inform you that new FFXIV: Heavensward information was made available by Square Enix today. The details are quoted below.

Hi, this is Kahuna speaking. You might know me from Reddit or the PlayStation blog already, but today I have the honour of being our live correspondent from the gamescom showfloor!

While gamescom only opens to consumers today, we've already had two long days behind us! On Tuesday, we had our big introduction of this year's community ambassadors!

Last year, we were confronted with a problem. Like pretty much every other booth, we were looking into getting promoters. But as you all know, FFXIV has a complex and deep story, and explaining the fights we had in mind was problematic. Who would answer all the questions? How could we make sure that the promo team knew all abilities and could introduce people adequately? Then again, year after year, we had players on the booth who said they'd love to work there all week. So we looked into it, and decided that we would recruit, for the first time ever, Community Ambassadors, mixed with promotional personnel. And it was a huge success.

So this year, both FFXIV booths will feature only Ambassadors and Square Enix personnel! All of the Ambassadors have been hand-picked by us after days of back to back Skype video interviews, and they're all hardcore fans just like you. So if you're visiting us this year and have a question, grab anyone from our booth - we can guarantee that there's someone within reach who should be able to answer your questions, from "What's the story about?" to "Which weapon do you think is best-in-slot for my job right now?".

Of course, working at gamescom is hard work, for ambassadors as well. It's 6 days of hard work, even, and as such we're of course really happy everyone agreed to this craziest week of the convention week. To say thanks, Yoshida agreed to a meet and greet and signed whatever they brought - just look at them lining up!

Yesterday, gamescom opened to trade visitors. Compared to the sheer amount of gamers that will storm the halls tomorrow, this is a rather calm day. No crazy queues, but we already managed to hand out a ton of Bismarck shirts! And if you passed by the booth, there's a good chance you've heard me and a colleague moderate the battle challenges.

Today it starts for real, and we're looking forward a lot to many happy faces and an enormous amount of loot for us to give away!

We're looking forward to seeing you all, and for those of you that won't be able to come, look forward to more blog posts!

Looking forward to a crazy week,
