FFXIV News - Dev Blog: Gung Ho for GARO
Today, Square Enix posted a new FFXIV: Heavensward article on the dev blog. Read below for all the information, taken from the Lodestone.

Greetings, everyone!

Next week is not only the much awaited release of Patch 3.5–The Far Edge of Fate, it is also the start of the collaboration with GARO!

The collaboration features weapons and armor for each job, and they will be introduced as PvP equipment. To get started, you’ll want to head to the Wolves’ Den Pier and find this black-clad NPC. She’ll offer you the GARO goods for a price!

If you’ve yet to give PvP a shot, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Not only because of the collaboration, but because we also are making a ton of adjustments to PvP in Patch 3.5 to make it easier than ever to hop in and enjoy the content!

★You can now register as a freelancer for Frontline and participate without worrying about Grand Company allegiance.
★It’s now possible to chat with FC and LS members during Frontline.
★Chat has been disabled for both the Feast and the Fold.

The last bullet point above about chatting in the Feast and the Fold is a major change, and as a replacement for not being able to chat we will be implementing a quick chat system.

You’ll be able to select from 22 different quick chat words and phrases that range from simple greetings to warnings and other orders. These are being added as PvP actions, so it will be possible to add them to your hotbars for quick access.

If PvP really just isn’t your cup of tea and you are still interested in this awesome looking equipment, you’ll be able to purchase it from the Gold Saucer with MGP. However, this version of the equipment will not be dyeable.

Finally, while the equipment is most certainly exciting, there’s more–mounts!

In GARO, the protagonist of the series, has the duty of eliminating demons known as “Horrors,” and for slaying 100 of these, he is given a magical horse to ride! Which means in FFXIV you’ll have to…

Well I won’t spoil it, but don’t worry–It won’t involve racking up a 100 score kill count in PvP!

The wait is almost over for Patch 3.5, and I hope you are all looking forward to the amazing content that is on the way!

In the meantime, I will be dreaming about fancy armor materializing on my body while I walk around slowly.
