FFXIV News - Dev Blog: Let's Get Elemental
From the Dev Blog.

Greetings, adventurers!

Luxpheras here. In case you haven’t heard, The Forbidden Land of Eureka: Anemos arrived today! Allow me to be your tour guide through these forbidden lands.

Prepare to Head to Eureka

In order to unlock this new content, head to Rhalgr’s Reach and speak with the NPC Galiena.

The Warrior of Light has been prompted to investigate a deserted island to the south of Kugane, known as the Forbidden Land. Why is the Warrior of Light being sent to a deserted island? Why is it called Eureka? Questions, questions. Go pick up the quest to find out!

Let’s Explore Eureka

There are three key factors to keep in mind while exploring Eureka: Anemos:

• There are content-specific features
• There are Elemental Levels and Elemental EXP
• The Magia Board and Magicite

Even if things seem complicated and overwhelming at first, you’ll be fine if you keep these three points in mind.

Is Eureka an Open World Area?

Similar to the Palace of the Dead or Diadem, Eureka is instanced content. Speak to Thancred—ahem. I mean, speak to Rodney to enter the instance.

However, Eureka is different than other instanced content in the following ways:

• You can stay in the instance for a very long time (up to 180 minutes)
• Up to 144 players can enter an instance at the same time
• You can use party functions within the instance

Inside Eureka, there are merchants and menders as well as quest-giving NPCs and weather reporters. You’re essentially in an open-world environment, you just access it via the NPC.

(Tip!) Make use of the Party Recruitment Features!

Level up your Elemental Level!

In Eureka, you can gain Elemental Experience in order to gain Elemental Levels.

Here, the elements are volatile. While in The Forbidden Land, your job will be synced to 70 and item level synced to 300, and your character’s strength will be determined by your Elemental Level.

Your progress within Eureka will be saved at all times. If you have to leave suddenly, simply leave the instance. When you return to the island later on, you can continue right where you left off.

(Tip!) Be wary of level differences, moreso than usual!

A difference in level like this will kill you immediately. Be careful!

Using the Magia Board
Aside from the elemental leveling system, there is also the Magia Board and Magicite system that controls the elements.

Using this elemental system is key to surviving in these dangerous lands!

Okay, so this may seem a bit complicated at first, but here’s what to do:

Place the Magicite (an elemental stone) into the Magia Board (an elemental board).

Spin the Magia Board
Decide which element you’re attacking with, and which element you’re defending with.
Fight!

It’s simple, really!

The UI team worked very hard on the Magia Board, but it will be easier to understand once you use it yourself. That being said, I’ll try and show you an example! This is what happens when you attack a water element enemy with a lightning element attack.

First, a water attack against the enemy with a water affinity. That’s not very effective…

Using a lightning element attack against the water element enemy is much more effective! Damage is increased from 4600 to 6000, and that’s just with one Magicite.

You’ll need to put some thought into how to customize the use of your Magicite once you obtain more…

(Tip!) Once you get accustomed to the Magia Board, try adjusting your defense as well.

By using the correct defensive element, you may be able to tank a surprising amount of enemies!

Final Notes
That sums up our short but (hopefully) sweet tour guide to help you prepare to enter The Forbidden Land of Eureka!

There are many ways to enjoy this content:

Follow the story within!
Go for rare rewards!
Work on your Eureka weapon!

Go forth, Warriors of Light, and explore the island!

Check out the official Patch 4.25 notes for more details, or just dive right in.
