This morning was the end of an era in Final Fantasy XIV with Dalamud finally coming crashing down to bring chaos and destruction to Eorzea. This marks the end of the Sixth Astral Era.
Square Enix released a CGI video at the time of impact which is effectively the ending for FFXIV. Viewing it will certainly contain spoilers as it concludes the story we’ve been playing through for the past year and a bit, however as this story will not make it into A Realm Reborn it is safe for viewing.
The basics of the story are that a large meteor called Dalamud has been summoned by the Garlean Empire to bring about the end of the world and we as adventurers have been trying to stop it as it approaches Eorzea. As it gets closer Garlean activity has been increasing and strange things have been happening to the world. Version 1 of FFXIV ends with all adventurers being summoned to Brittle Bark in Mor Dhona where a large battle against the Garlean Empire begins. This is also the first major scene in the ending CGI.
The video is simply epic and well presented, one of the best CGI movies Square Enix has created in years.
