We’ve been hard at work this week putting together the region, dungeon and city maps found within beta phase 3. After some enjoyable exploration around Eorzea and suffering many deaths at the hands of level 45-50 monsters we were able to uncover almost every part of the region maps. We then took screenshots of the maps and put them on FFXIV Info in high quality.
We went a bit further than that however. We felt the region connection maps within FFXIV: ARR weren’t very good for our region home pages so we went ahead and made our own. The end result was something like this (Thanalan region).
Too small? That’s okay, because we kept the larger versions too. On the region pages you can click on any map or screenshot and they will open up in full size. To view the maps simply visit our World category in the nav above. Coerthas and Mor Dhona are not in the beta so we don’t have new maps for those yet.
Alongside the map is a short description of the area as well as a selection of screenshots relating to the area. Most of these were taken by ourselves, the rest being official screenshots or ones we plan to get this weekend.
Class Abilities and More
It’s not just maps we’ve updated this week however. We went ahead and updated the majority of class abilities and traits for FFXIV: ARR. These were copied directly from the game itself so there are some missing, most noticeably the job skills since they were not in beta 3.1. We will be able to get them this weekend however. Some quested class skills are also in need of adding but everything else is good.
Yesterday we added 188 new screenshots which we took at the weekend. We also added new content pages for limit breaks and leveling dungeons.
We will continue to push forward and update as much of the website as possible in time for FFXIV: ARR’s release, as well as add new content. The item database may be something that comes in stages as we are still trying to figure out how to uncompress the dat files. If anyone could help with that please send us an e-mail!
The plan for the coming beta test is to get the remaining class/job skills, take more screenshots, update the crafting and materia guides and gain the rest of the dungeon maps.
