Allagan Tomestone of Poetics: 100
Guide
Crystal Tower: Labyrinth of the Ancients is the first section of the Crystal Tower raid series. It contains the labyrinth at the base of the tower. The raid is intended for 3 parties of 8 forming an alliance and is designed for casual play, meaning it is not difficult content. In patch 2.1 players were restricted to one item of loot per week, however, this was changed to unlimited in 2.2. The raid drops equipment of ilevel 80 and you will receive 200 Tomestones of Mythology in total.
The raid is found within Mor Dhona and is accessible upon completion of Hullbreaker Isle normal mode and the quest “The Ultimate Weapon”. You can then take on the quest “Labyrinth of the Ancients”, which is given by G’raha Tia in Mor Dhona (X:30, Y:12).
Compared to a dungeon, you will find Crystal Tower: Labyrinth of the Ancients is a fair bit longer and contains six bosses. Only four of them will drop loot but there will be a chest for each of the three parties. Below is a detailed boss guide for each of them. The bits in-between are just running, except at the start where there are a few instances of trash.
Bone Dragon
Bone Dragon is the first boss that you will encounter in the Labyrinth of the Ancients and is not too difficult. You boss will respawn twice after being defeated so be ready to kill it three times.
The main things to be aware of on this fight are the mechanics of the adds. Skeletons will spawn during the first two instances of the boss fight and must be tanked on separate platforms. They will respawn a bit later and move towards the boss. You must not allow skeletons to die close together otherwise when they respawn they will move towards the boss faster. For every skeleton that reaches the boss the entire room will receive a damaging AoE attack of around 1500. This can wipe the group.
On the final instance of the boss the Bone Dragon will spawn floating eye creatures instead of skeletons. It is the job of the tanks (who are not on the boss) to hold these while the DPS players finish off the boss.
One other mechanic to be aware of is the poison on the floor. It will appear and disappear, but the damage is minimal providing you get out of it quickly. Aside from that, the rest is a simple case of DPSing the boss when you are not DPSing skeletons.
Atomos
Firstly you will notice there are three platforms with three Atomos bosses on them. Each alliance party should take a platform and prepare to fight.
Atomos is quite a simple fight however there is one very important mechanic. This is that four members of your party need to be stood on the near side platforms at all times. This will be your two healers and two of your ranged DPS. If there are not four members on here then not only will your group not be able to damage your Atomos, neither will the other two parties be able to damage theirs.
Atomos will not actually attack the tank, he just sits there continually spawning adds which the off tank should pick up and hold for the rest of the group to kill between DPSing Atomos. Another way of doing it is for both tanks to take turns at picking up an add since the next one may spawn before the current one has been killed. This is the entire fight.
Thanatos
Thanatos has a large circular shaped arena with three side platforms, each housing a magic pot. Their purpose is to give you a special buff that will allow your party to damage Thanatos, and should any of them die that group will be unable to damage the boss. If all of them die then the alliance will wipe because no one can damage the boss. You can and should heal the magic pots when necessary.
Only one group can damage the boss at a time, so the other two groups will be dealing with the many adds that spawn. The groups should prioritise adds that are moving towards the magic pots, especially any that have a red line attaching themselves to the magic pot. If this happens then the magic pot is being dragged towards Thanatos and if it reaches him he will kill it.
This is the entire fight.
Allagan Bomb
In the arena for this boss you will notice a giant bomb in the middle; however you can not immediately attack it. There are three Vassago adds in the room too, which must be defeated first. Each party in the alliance will take a Vassago and deal with the adds that spawn near it during the fight.
Vassago is not a complicated boss, the tank just needs to take care with positioning and be ready to move it when he uses an AoE attack that leaves a puddle on the floor.
The DPS in the group should be prioritising the adds over the boss. These adds are bombs, with some of them being Napalms. The kill order is Napalm > Balloons > Vassago so the DPS players in the group need to be on the constant look out for what is spawning. Between adds they will attack the boss until it is defeated.
After all three Vassagos have been defeated the alliance will be able to damage the Allagan Bomb. The group needs to defeat this quickly before it explodes and wipes the alliance.
King Behemoth
King Behemoth is a classic boss from the Final Fantasy series and will be familiar to many. There are two very important mechanics to be aware of during this fight as well as adds to take care of.
The first mechanic are the towers you see around the arena. You will see four of them and generally the four weakest (in terms of gear) tanks will go and stand by them. One of the remaining tanks will prepare to tank the boss and the other will be ready to take the adds. As for the towers, they control the electricity supply that is giving constant AoE damage across the entire arena. In order to lower this damage the towers need to be interacted with every so often, which is around every 5 seconds. This task is for the entire fight, except when you need to hide from Meteor.
Meteor is the other mechanic to be aware of. Multiples in the fight King Behemoth will drop Comets on to the arena. At first they will target players and land where they are. These are harmless and must be dropped away from the boss. King Behemoth will stand up when he is casting Meteor and it is then that the whole alliance must hide behind these Comets. If anyone is caught in King Behemoth’s line of sight they will die, because the Meteor damage is too high. This means at least one Comet needs to be around so adds must be kept away from them.
In terms of adds, you will have to deal with Iron Giant type creatures and smaller adds that will try to destroy the electricity control towers. DPS players should prioritise the adds heading towards the towers, followed by the iron giants and then King Behemoth. The off tank dealing with adds needs to take care not to tank adds near Comets otherwise they will be hit and be destroyed eventually.
This will repeat a few times until the fight is over.
Acheron
Acheron is the final boss in Crystal Tower: Labyrinth of the Ancients and if you have gotten this far you are good because King Behemoth was a harder fight. There will be a lot of different patterns of AoE to dodge but this is not difficult as there are a lot of safe spots.
The main mechanic in this fight is that Acheron will cast Ancient Flare at certain parts of the fight. To avoid this the alliance needs to initiate a barrier and move outside the arena. The barrier is created by defeating the three iron hands that spawn by the edge of the arena. The player in the hand can not use any skills until freed. Once the barrier is up the alliance must run to their platforms outside the main circle. While on the platform an iron giant will spawn along with another iron hand. Defeat the adds and be ready to run back into the main fight.
This process will repeat itself a few times until the boss has been defeated. Do take care with the AoE patterns however as they will become more complex as the fight goes on.
