FFXIV News - Dev Blog: FRC Semifinals & Patch 4.4 Update!

From the Dev Blog.

Hello, everyone!

The Feast Regional Championship (FRC) begins tomorrow, September 7th!

In the wake of the most exciting Feast competition to date, we are here to share some details with you regarding the FRC semifinals, and also PvP-related updates that are scheduled for Patch 4.4!

Let's begin with the FRC semifinals!

The FRC semifinals will kick off on Friday, September 7th and goes through Sunday, September 9th. The entire show will be streamed live on our Twitch channel! Top top three teams from preliminaries will compete against each other to decide which teams will move up to the finals in Las Vegas!

We're bringing over Frosty and +ONE as guest commentators for the show, so be sure to check out the stream!

Let's check out which teams made it to the semifinals!

■ Aether Data Center

■Primal Data Center

Teams that make it through the semifinals will move onto the finals which will take place at the Fan Festival 2018 in Las Vegas this November! Both the semifinals and finals will be streamed live, so be sure to tune in and join the excitement!

Here's the schedule for the semifinals:

Primal (NA):
Saturday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m. (PDT)

Aether (NA):
Sunday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. (PDT)

While we're all hyped up with the FRC semifinals, we also have PvP-related updates coming in Patch 4.4!

■ Adjust PvP-specific HUD elements from the Wolves' Den Pier PvP!
We've received a lot of feedback requesting to be able to adjust PvP-specific HUD elements outside of a match, and this will become available from Patch 4.4! While you will only see the border layout of the HUD element, you can now adjust them outside of a match, so take your time to get the perfect setup!

■ Quick Chat: Focus Attack
Since the Feast was first implemented, many strategies have been born by the players! The most popular however, a countdown used to focus attack on a single target to deal burst damage* has been implemented as a quick chat feature.

With this, new players won't have to prepare a macro, and the sound and visuals make it easier to focus attack on a target. We also have a quick chat to cancel the focus target as well.

These quick chat options can be executed by a text command as well, so you could include it as part of your macro as well!

*Burst damage is a method used to knock out a player by having all team members focus their buffs and ability at the same timing.

And that wraps up the 4.4 updates for PvP!

Hope to see you join us in the semifinals stream in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
