FFXI Players to Receive FFXIV In-Game Bonus Item and Lower Subscription Fees

by Xenor

Square Enix have announced that subscribers of both Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV will be entitled to a discount on their subscription fee, as long as both games are registered to the same Square Enix account. Taken from the official website,

Link a PlayOnline ID with an active FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID to a Square Enix account with an active FINAL FANTASY XIV service account to discount your FINAL FANTASY XI monthly service fees from £8.99 to £5.00 or from €12.95 to €7.00 or $12.95 to $7.00.

This is a very good discount and should help players migrate from FFXI to FFXIV. The discount is available until January 2011. The discount does not apply if your FFXIV subscription is in its trial period on the 26th of the month, and you must be paying by credit card. If you have multiple FFXIV accounts, you will be able to receive multiple FFXI subscription discounts, equal to the number of FFXIV accounts you own.

FFXIV Information - Hermes Shoes
Players with a linked Final Fantasy XI content ID will also be able to receive the in-game item Hermes’ Shoes. These will be automatically on your FFXIV account when you begin playing and they will increase your movement speed when they are equipped. You will not be able to receive the item if FFXI is in its free trial period.

There will also be a method to transfer your character name from FFXI to FFXIV. To do so you will need your accounts linked in the same way as the other bonuses. If your character was called Destiny on Odin server for example your FFXIV character name will be Destiny Odin.
