Dev Blog: Scions & Sinners and the Untempered Too

by Xenor

Hello everyone, this is Voltenyne from the Community team!

During the last Letter from the Producer LIVE, Yoshida and Soken hosted a segment that showcased two new albums launching soon.

I’m sure many of you are eager to know which songs will be included in these albums, so today I’d like to provide a brief overview before their actual release on Wednesday, March 24!

Scions & Sinners: FINAL FANTASY XIV ~ Arrangement Album ~

Square Enix Store: Scions & Sinners: FINAL FANTASY XIV ~ Arrangement Album ~

Scions & Sinners is our fourth arrangement album, following Journeys, which was released almost two years ago. Emet-Selch is featured prominently on the cover with a meaningful expression, as if he’s urging you to sit back and let the melodies take you places, because this music slaps.

Like our previous arrangement albums, this album contains piano arrangements by Keiko and band arrangements by THE PRIMALS. We also have “Tomorrow and Tomorrow” with vocals by Amanda Achen in the extra tracks of the piano section.

Each section is accompanied by video playback of both in-game and live performance footage.
The in-game footage was recorded with a spectacular background that you normally wouldn’t be able to see in-game, giving you a new perspective on familiar sights.

Live performance footage includes THE PRIMALS’s first-ever music video produced for an arrangement album, which I hear may or may not include a certain dance that was being choreographed in the behind-the-scenes video.

In addition to the album, the first-run edition will come with bonus in-game item codes for the following two Orchestrion Rolls, so you can listen to the arrangement versions in the game as well!

・’Neath Dark Waters (Scions & Sinners) Orchestrion Roll
・A Long Fall (Scions & Sinners : Band) Orchestrion Roll

On top of all that, pre-orders from the Square Enix Store will include the following sleeve case!

First of all, have a look at the amazing details in this jacket illustration! It’s as if the various primals and powerful bosses have come together for an enormous group photo!

My favorite part is Vauthry’s indignant reaction to Tsukuyomi blowing smoke in his face. Keep it to yourself, Tsukuyomi!

As you may have guessed, this album contains the battle themes of formidable foes we faced in Stormblood and Shadowbringers. From Susano’s danger bongos to Hades’s foreboding gasps, there are 31 tracks in total across two CDs. This includes the bonus tracks “To the Edge” and “The Black Wolf Stalks Again,” which are being released on CD for the first time!

This is our second compilation album of Primal battle themes, following the first Untempered album which contained tracks from A Realm Reborn and Heavensward. Let these battle themes take you back to those moments of glory when you fought and triumphed against unforgettable enemies!

As mentioned earlier, both albums are being released on Wednesday, March 24.
Be sure to pick them up to listen to your favorite tracks from FFXIV while we wait for the Digital Fan Festival!
