Shiva is a new primal that was added in patch 2.4. The fight this page refers to is the Hard Mode version of the fight that takes place within the main scenario. Like with Ramuh and Leviathan Hard Mode it is not intended to be a difficult fight and you should have no problems beating it first or second try. Extreme Mode exists to challenge the best players.

Shiva Hard Mode becomes available upon completion of the quest "A Simple Plan". You will then be able to pick up the quest "The Instruments of Our Deliverance" from Minfilia in The Rising Stones (X:6 Y:5) and challenge him after forming a party of 8 players with an item level 80 or above.

You should not have to spend time learning the mechanics of the fight in order to beat it because the damage taken is a lot less, however a general understanding of them will help. Keep in mind that Shiva will only use Sword and Bow Form in the hard mode version so ignore Bow Form for now.

I figure there is little point listing the mechanics here again so please read the listing in the extreme guide. In future we will only list one guide per primal because SE has watered down the hard mode fights to the point where two separate guides isn't worth having. In general you will likely one or two shot the fight.

There is no need for the group to assign positions for people to run to like in extreme mode however not overlapping with Hailstorm is still advisable.

One thing tanks should be aware of is that when dealing with Icebrand you have to do the opposite to what you do in extreme mode. In extreme mode the tank would share the damage from this attack with the party to reduce the amount of damage it does, however in hard mode the tank should not do this as it does not reduce the damage taken. This leads to the occasional enexpected wipe if the tank is not aware.

Loot

Shiva Hard Mode is for story progression only and does not drop any weapons like the earlier hard mode primals do. Those were placed in Shiva extreme.
