The Keeper of the Lake is an end-game dungeon added during patch 2.5. It requires an item level of 90 or above to enter and rewards players with ilevel 100 equipment. The dungeon is found within the Mor Dhona area and is accessible upon completion of the main scenario quest “Best Laid Schemes”. You can then take on the quest “The Rising Chorus”, which is given by Tataru in The Rising Stones (X:6 Y:5).
Boss Guide
The Keeper of the Lake contains three bosses, called Anchag, Magitek Gunship and Midgardsormr. Below is a guide for each of them.
Einhander
In this fight Ceruleum Tanks will fall to the arena. Some will be small, some will be large. Damaging the small ones will push them away similar to the final boss of Brayflox’s Longstop Hard. The large ones cannot be moved. The boss has an attack which can suck the small ones towards him, as well as your party members.
The tanks will only explode if they are hit by one of the boss’ AoE abilities or if they are hit by another tank’s explosion. The damage from small ones is weak but the large ones will deal a significant amount of damage. For this reason the boss should be tanked away from the big ones. An explosion from a large one will trigger all other tanks to explode and most likely wipe the party if there are multiple large ones.
The boss has several different weapons he will use, each giving him access to a different type of attack. They are just your typical dodge ground AoEs so just step away from them. However be careful when Einhander has a gun because his attack will be a line AoE and this can cause tanks to explode if you are standing in line with them.
This fight is all about positioning, just be aware of where the large tanks are and push any small ones away from the boss.
Magitek Gunship
The main mechanic in this fight is his fire attacks. He will place a crosshair on a random target and start moving towards them. As he moves he will place four ground DoTs behind him on his way to the player. This can consume a large portion of the arena and it is best for the targeted player to move towards the edge of the arena so that the DoTs are dropped on the outside. This leaves plenty room for everyone after the attack. If you are standing where a DoT circle lands you will take a small amount of damage
One other thing to be aware of with this fight is that the Magitek Gunship will spawn some adds. These are nothing special and will be quickly killed by the DPS. However if you placed the ground DoTs in poor positions you may find melee players have to run through them in order to reach the adds.
The boss also has a frontal cone attack and another AoE attack which targets players, but these are nothing special and are easy to avoid.
Midgardsormr
This boss is interesting in that the majority of damage to the boss will be indirect. Midgardsormr does not need to be tanked but the adds do as they will not be pushovers. When you start the fight you will notice two dragons on the floor. These are your main adds.
After a short time DPSing Midgardsormr he will go invincible and the Mirage Dragon on the right of the arena will be revived. When you kill the dragon Midgardsormr will lose a significant portion of his HP. The dragon has a frontal cone attack as well as other AoE damage but the main thing to be aware of is that if you fight it too close to Midgardsormr he will take reduced damage. Simply move it further out.
At around 50% health an Astraea add will arrive. You must kill this as it will leave a Magitek Field Generator that will protect you from the massive AoE that Midgardsormr is about to use. You will wipe if you have not killed this add and activated the generator. When you activate the generator you will have to step into the shield that is formed.
Once the dragon is dead you can DPS Midgardsormr for a short time before he revives the second dragon. The process is the same as the first one except this one has to be tanked close to Midgardsormr to avoid the reduced damage penalty. This dragon will have slightly different AoEs but like the first they are easy to get out of.
Once the second dragon has been defeated Midgardsormr will have around 5% health left and you can finish it off.
