Sastasha Seagrot Hard Mode is an end-game dungeon added during patch 2.4. It requires an item level of 80 or above to enter and rewards players with ilevel 90 equipment. The dungeon is found within the Western La Noscea area and is accessible upon completion of Sastasha Seagrot normal mode and the quest “The Ultimate Weapon”. You can then take on the quest “It’s Definitely Pirates”, which is given by Bloezoeng in Mor Dhona (X:22, Y:8).
Boss Guide
Sastasha Seagrot Hard Mode contains three bosses, called Karlabos, Captain Madison and Kraken. Below is a guide for each of them.
Karlabos
This fight is quite simple and should not pose any difficulty. The main activities in this fight are for the healer, while everyone else has an easy fight. The main mechanics you will see in this fight include:
Slime: He will use an attack that throws a slime AoE at up to three random party members, which applies a damage over time effect to them as well as Slow. This can be removed using Esuna or Leeches.
Tail Screw: This will hit the targeted player for around 99% of their HP, which is deadly if the healer failed to remove the Slime debuff. This attack can be stunned.
The boss will also use an attack called Impale which deals high damage to a random player, and an attack called Prey which stuns the tank after a timer counts down.
Captain Madison
This is the hardest fight in the dungeon and killing the adds as soon as possible is the way to win. Failing to do so can result in you getting overwhelmed and losing, especially on the third and fourth sets.
The boss itself has one main mechanic that you need to be aware of. It is called In the Line of Fire and you will know it when you see it because Captain Madison will start shooting his gun at the targeted player. This will hit them around five times if not interrupted. The attack can be interrupted by dealing enough damage to the boss while it is going off. If you have adds up then you might not be able to stop this so the healer will need to be on alert.
The boss also has a couple of frontal attacks, one of which has a knockback and stun effect.
In terms of strategy you should aim to kill the adds as fast as possible using AoEs. BLMs can help by keeping Swiftcast available for a quick Flare. The mage LB1 can also be useful on the third or fourth set of adds. On the fourth set you will have many more adds but you won’t have the boss to deal with, so it’s debatable on which set it’s best to use the LB. I personally keep it for the fourth set.
Kraken
This is the same boss as the one from the end of Hullbreaker Isle, except this time you get to fight more than just its arms and tentacles. Arms and tentacles will keep respawning when killed and your main target should be the Kraken itself.
The Kraken has a wide AoE called Ink Jet that will Blind anyone stood in it, and since the Tentacles can throw a person in front of the boss this can force a player to get hit by it. Blind will reduce your accuracy so the healer needs to dispel it with Esuna or Leeches.
In terms of the Arms and Tentacles, the best strategy is to ignore the Tentacles but kill all the Arms. If an Arm stays alive too long they will use an attack called World’s End which deals heavy damage to the target and anyone near them.
This can be a long fight if you decide to kill everything, and it’s really not necessary since the Tentacles are weak.
