FFXIV News - Dev Blog: Under the HUD
New FFXIV information is available on the dev blog from today. You can read the news in the quote below.

Greetings, everyone!
Bayohne here again with another fun update from the recent NicoNico Chokaigi 3 event held in Japan!

During one of the stage shows, they showed off the HUD layout of a few of the core development team members and a few special guests! We figured it’d be something that’s interesting for you to see, so here they are!

(BTW – be sure to click to enlarge the pics!)

Producer/Director, Naoki Yoshida

This is the layout that Yoshida often uses when he’s checking new content during the development process. He points out a few things: he tries to stick to the standard UI, focused on the gamepad, doesn’t use macros, and only uses one set of the cross hotbar.

He also recommends that new users keep it simple at first, pay attention to what’s happening on screen and try and keep things centered/near your character.

Game Designer, Yasumi Matsuno (Special Guest!)

President and CEO of Level-5 Inc., Akihiro Hino (Special Guest!)

Battle Director, Mitsutoshi Gondai

Here you can see just how in-depth Gondai goes…including all his hotkeys and keyboard settings. He’s very thorough…

Here are his hotbars for his tank, melee DPS, ranged DPS, and healers (clockwise from top-right: dragoon, black mage, scholar, bard, warrior)

Lead UI Artist, Hiroshi Minagawa

You can see he keeps his major actions front and center (literally)!

It’s really interesting to see how the dev. team, and our special guests, arrange their UI! I know whenever a “Show your UI!” thread pops up on our forum, or on sites like Reddit, I always go in there to see if I can get some pointers!
