FFXIV News - Dev Blog: Viva Gold Saucer (Part 2)

A new FFXIV: ARR post has appeared on the dev blog. The new information is quoted below.

"

Greetings, everyone!
Bayohne here and ready to continue where we left off on our series about the Manderville Gold Saucer launching tomorrow!

Our previous post touched on mini games, GATEs and Chocobo Racing, so for part two, I'll introduce the remaining features: Triple Triad and the Cactpot!

● Triple Triad
Triple Triad is the classic competitive card game from FFVIII, where you do battle based on the numbers on each card.

The rules are simple; both players take turns placing their cards on the board. You will be able to "capture" your opponent's card if you have the higher number on the adjacent side. The player with the most captured cards at the end wins! You won't lose cards that are captured, so don't worry!

You can try your hand against NPCs and other players, so be sure to challenge friends, FC members, and fellow adventurers you encounter!

At certain times, there will also be tournaments where you can compete for points, so be sure to hone your skills!

●The Cactpot
There are two kinds of in-game lotteries in the Gold Saucer.

First up, the Jumbo Cactpot! This is a lottery that is held weekly.

Start by selecting a four digit number of your choosing; this will become your entry number.
After that, all you have to do is sit back and wait for the results to be announced. For the early birds out there, you should note that you'll receive a bonus to your winnings if you exchange your ticket within one hour of the winning number announcement!

This is the performance you can expect to see when the results are announced!

The second type of lottery is known as the Mini Cactpot! Unlike the weekly Jumbo Cactpot, you can take part once a day.

In this scratcher-style lottery, numbers from 1-9 are divided into three rows and placed randomly on your ticket. You'll receive a ticket with one number already visible and you'll then scratch away three boxes. Once four boxes are visible, you can guess the total for each row. You then select one of the rows, and are awarded a bonus depending on the total of the numbers in the row you selected.

From the Payout window, you can see which numbers are linked with each reward, but depending on the number combination each time, some of the totals won't actually be possible. Bearing this in mind when playing can make it very interesting when trying to guess the numbers! The rewards are pretty nice, so I recommend giving it a shot each day!

(Here you can see I would have won 10,000 MGP! I hope I'm this lucky when the patch goes live!)

Let's take a look at the fabulous prizes that await you!

By playing through the various games in the Gold Saucer you can collect MGP (Manderville Gold Saucer Points). You can use these MGP to exchange for items. Here's a sneak peek of just some of the items you can get your hands on!

The outfit of a certain gambler...

This alluring outfit...

This portly minion...

...and much more! Be sure to collect MGP to get the items of your choice!
I hope you enjoyed this two-part series on the Manderville Gold Saucer!
Once the Gold Saucer is open, be sure to pay a visit in between your adventuring!

Senor Sabotender is looking forward to greeting you all!
